Welcome to my website, currently a work in progress.
I’m a doctoral researcher and studio design instructor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. I obtained my Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia in 2007 and a Master’s degree from the ETH Zurich Department of Architecture in 2012. My research interests focus on the connection between the constructed environment and social development, with a transdisciplinary basis, grounded in urban and spatial theory as well as a broad palette of social science methodologies. My current doctoral dissertation, entitled the Cooperative Urbanism Project, investigates Johannesburg’s urbanization processes, specifically those related to urban inequality, from the perspective of underprivileged populations. I also teach for Anna Heringer and Martin Rauch at the ETH, using a design-build approach with students to develop contemporary rammed earth construction techniques. This allows me to maintain a connection to the pragmatic aspects of architectural design.
